The watershed advisory committee is required by MN Statute. Their purpose is to “advise and assist the managers on all matters affecting the interests of the watershed district and make recommendations to the managers on all contemplated projects and improvements in the watershed district.”

The advisory committee must consist of at least 5 members that serve at the pleasure of the managers. Members should include representatives from SWCDs, counties, sporting organization(s), and farm organizations.
Members must be residents of the watershed district, expect SWCD or County representatives can be non-residents.

The committee typically has a meeting once per quarter. Committee members attend regular board meetings and give reports and recommendations to the managers when asked.
The committee is appointed annually, based on an application review by the Board’s Personnel Committee. The Advisory Committee Application can be downloaded below.

Applications are accepted anytime until December 31st. The Board’s Personnel Committee reviews the applications by mid-January and makes their official appointments at the January Board meeting.
